Post Home Committee

The Post Home Committee is elected by the Post members to manage matters related to the Post facility which includes operation, maintenance and repair of the Post rooms, grounds and Canteen. Duties and responsibilities are defined by the Post By-Laws.  All Post Home Committee decisions must be made with a majority of the Post Home Committee members. 

Structure: The Post Home Committee is elected by the Post members. It shall consist of no less than 5 members with terms of office staggered one-year, two-years and three-years and will rotate thru the positions with three-year, two-year, and so on. The member holding the two-year position will be the Committee Chairperson for that year. The Post Commander and Post Quartermaster are members of the Post Home Committee by the virtue of their offices. Post Trustees cannot serve on the Post Home Committee. 

Meetings: The Post Home Committee meets once a month on the second Monday of the month before the regular Post meetings. The Post Home Committee Chairperson may call for ad hoc committee meetings should situations arise that call for immediate Post Home Committee attention. 

Budget: The Post Home Committee may authorize such expenditures for minor emergency repairs as may be necessary for the preservation and protection of the Post’s facilities and equipment, provided that the total amount so expended between any two regular Post Home Committee meetings shall not exceed $500.00.  The Post Home Committee is authorized to arrange for major emergency repairs costing more than $500.00.  Said funds are to be drawn from the Post Maintenance fund as maintained by the Post Quartermaster. Any non-emergency Post work that exceeds the above stated amounts must be brought forward to the Post membership at the next Post meeting for approval before the work can go forward. 

Expenditures: All expenditures of the Post Home Committee shall be made only by regular voucher and check drawn by the Quartermaster. All such checks shall be signed by the Quartermaster, or authorized representative.  The Post Quartermaster may, with the approval of the Post Commander, appoint one or two assistants to help manage the finances of the Post home All disbursements of Post funds shall bear the signature of the Post Quartermaster or other person(s) authorized by the Quartermaster.  Such other authorized person(s) shall be bonded with an indemnity company as surety in a sum at least equal to the amount of liquid assets for he may be accountable in accordance with Section 703 of the National By-Laws. 

Reporting: The Post Home Committee Chairperson is responsible for reporting facility status and upkeep to the Post membership at the monthly Post meeting. The Chairperson will report on repairs or changes made to the Post, repairs or changes needed to be made to Post, cost of said repairs or changes, the work parties needed to help maintain the Post and Canteen operation. 

Employment: The Post Home Committee shall employ such personnel, including Post Manager, as shall be necessary, and set appropriate remuneration. No member of the Committee or any Post Trustee shall serve as manager.  Contacting the Post Home Committee.
